Talking about mental health in Lewisham

'Me and My Community' is the theme for our Mental Health Stakeholder workshop event being held on Monday 14 October.

We're co-hosting the event along with our partners at Lewisham Council and look forward to you joining us for what promises to be an informative and interesting day.

Taking place in Catford, the 'Me and My Community' event will be open to all who live or work in Lewisham.  And those who attend will have the opportunity to find out what's happening in the borough to support the community have good mental health.

The day will comprise a selection of workshops that can be selected in accordance with preference when your ticket is booked. There will also be a 'market place' area where you can explore other topics – and lunch will be provided.

"Mental health is one of our priorities," said Dr Charles Gostling, Senior Clinical Director of Lewisham CCG, "and that's why we're particularly excited about this event and the opportunities it gives."

Dr Gostling added: "Not everyone knows where to get the best advice and support – for themselves or a loved one. And if you're unfamiliar with the NHS and its mental health services – particularly during a period of change – the system can sometimes appear daunting.

"But we're confident that our October event, with its workshops, will help to answer many questions that you may have."

Those who attend the event will be able to find out more about the future of mental health support in the borough, and how health inequalities are being challenged. Support for unpaid carers will also be discussed, along with help for those experiencing a mental health crisis.

Dr Gostling said: "We're looking forward to what promises to be an informative and interesting day for those who are interested in mental health."
