Cycle to work on Wednesday 15 August 2018 and join the UK’s biggest bike commuting event.

All you need to take part is a bicycle and the desire to ride. You can go solo or organise an event for you and your colleagues.

The event, which is run by Cyclescheme, is free and open to riders of all abilities so anyone can join in. Those taking part can pledge how many miles they will ride at, with the added motivation of a chance to win prizes.

For those inspired to take up cycling to work full-time, there is also the opportunity to get discounts on new bicycles and equipment.

Dr Marc Rowland, local GP and Chair of NHS Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group says: “Cycling to work is a great way to fit a little exercise into your daily routine. Joining in this event could be just the kickstart you need to make cycling part of your daily life.

“As well as improving your fitness, physical activity is also good for your mental wellbeing; evidence shows that it can help protect people against anxiety.”

Cyclescheme is an employee benefit scheme that saves you 25% to 39% on your bike and accessories, and allows you to spread the cost through salary sacrifice in a tax efficient way.

There are a range of local cycle schemes provided by Lewisham council such as free cycle lessons, cycle loan scheme, cycle maintenance courses and cycle storage for hire. To find out more about the Cyclescheme, visit
