NHS Lewisham CCG statement regarding proposed changes to prescribing in Lewisham

We would like to thank all those who took part in our consultation regarding proposed changes to prescribing in Lewisham.

Our Governing Body yesterday (9 November 2017) agreed to change prescribing guidelines for selected self-care medicines and malarial prevention medicines.

This follows extensive public engagement and a formal consultation process which took place between; Tuesday 29 August to Tuesday 24 October 2017.  The CCG considered all findings and feedback received very carefully.

Following yesterday's decision, revised guidelines will come into effect in the next few weeks.  The changes mean that selected self-care medicines and malaria prevention medicines that were previously available on NHS prescription will no longer be routinely available on NHS prescription.  Instead, patients will be advised to obtain these medicines from pharmacies or other outlets or through private prescription.
