NHS England has published the Improvement and Assessment (IAF) assessment ratings
NHS Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has received a 'requires improvement' rating for NHS England's IAF assessment but we are pleased to note the excellent progress we have made in clinical priority areas.
The Improvement and Assessment Framework (IAF) is NHS England's Assessment of the CCGs' financial performance, an assessment of the quality of CCG leadership and a CCG's performance against 48 indicators related to the NHS Constitution; other core performance, health outcomes and transformation objectives. The CCG maintained its rating from the previous financial year, despite, the NHS in south east London experienced a number of challenges in 2017-18, in particular around significant performance problems with local urgent and emergency services which led to NHS England issuing legal directions on Lewisham and Greenwich CCGs in September 2017. We are pleased to report that we have been working with provider organisations and our neighbouring CCGs and made real progress in overcoming these historical problems, and we believe we are on track to getting directions lifted in the near future.
Martin Wilkinson, Managing Director of NHS Lewisham CCG said: "We are pleased that our focus in these areas has been recognised:
for diabetes care we are rated as outstanding (an improvement on our 2016/17 rating of requires improvement)
for dementia care we are rated as outstanding
for mental health care we are rated as good.
We acknowledge that there are still improvements to be made and will continue to work with our partners in Lewisham and in south east London to focus on the areas that make the most difference to the people we serve."
