Continued demand on emergency services at Lewisham Hospital

Demand on emergency and hospital services in south east London, including University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital has continued to increase. NHS services are working together to respond to this pressure however we need your help.

Please do not go to A&E unless it is an emergency.  If you are feeling unwell, there are many other services you can access including your local pharmacy, NHS 111 and self care. Please use the right service.  It is important that you stay away from hospital if you are suffering from norovirus or flu. Call your GP or NHS 111 if you are concerned or need any advice.

If you're not sure where to go, call the free NHS 111 number - a trained advisor will offer you advice over the phone. If you need to be seen, they will be able to direct you to the best service for your condition. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In Lewisham, additional GP appointments are available through the GP Extended Access service 7 days a week, from 8am to 8pm based in the yellow zone at University Lewisham Hospital.  All appointments must be pre-booked through your normal GP practice or by calling NHS 111.
