Thanks to Matthew Mckenzie, Carer Consultant, for inviting us to the Lewisham Carers Mental Health Forum August session. Lewisham Carers Mental Health Forum provides support and information on mental health services. Some carers may need some empowerment in their role and the Forum is there to help and support everyone.

We went along to the meeting, at Carers Lewisham's offices, to explain the work of Lewisham CCG, promote recent health projects and campaigns in Lewisham - including Use the right service and cancer prevention.

Teresa Rodriguez, Engagement Officer said: "It was great to meet the group, and hear about their experiences. We also heard updates on the local mental health trust (South London and Maudsley) and the Carers strategy and talked about future visits to the Forum from the Director of Carers Trust. The Forum discussed the idea of having a future 'Listening

Day' for Carers in Lewisham and we would welcome the opportunity to support this.

We invited forum members to come along to our AGM on 13 September and to attend our engagement event on the 17 October as part of Lewisham Health Care Partners (LHCP).  This event will bring together local residents and staff working across health and care services to discuss how we can all work together for a healthier Lewisham. We hope some of the Carers MH Forum members will be able to join us."
