LEEP survey – reaching out to patients

Healthwatch Lewisham (HWL) has carried out an independent evaluation of the Lung Exercise and Education Programme (LEEP) which has been commissioned by the CCG.

The survey was carried out to ensure that patients and carers have a voice and are able to share their experience.

Patients have been encouraged, via practice managers, to complete a short survey. HWL also sought out people to speak to who started the programme but did not complete it and those who chose not to attend.

The survey was created in a way to find out what works well and what still needs to be improved,  to ensure people with chronic lung problems have knowledge and support to manage their illness – and maintain wellbeing.

Patients were also give the chance to take part in a prize draw taking part in the survey.

HWL was particularly keen to hear from people who started the programme but did not complete it and those who chose not to attend. This enabled HWL to understand the barriers people may face.

A £10 voucher was given to people who were able to share their experience with HWL through a face-to-face chat or a phone call, subject to eligibility and terms and conditions.
