Equality performance EDS2 2019 – working with our Public Reference Group
Members of our PRG are involved in the EDS2, a tool to measure equality performance of NHS organisations.
The Public Reference Group met our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager who offered an introduction on the Equality Delivery System, a tool to measure equality performance of NHS organisations, aiming to achieve better health outcomes and improved patient access and experience.
We have a legal duty to ensure the services we buy are appropriate for, and inclusive of, our diverse local population with particular regard to nine protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act 2010:
- religion and belief
- sexual orientation
- pregnancy and maternity
- marriage and civil partnership
- gender reassignment
The PRG was presented with a list of health services commissioned by the CCG, and members were asked to select 3 services for the assessment and grading 2019. After a lively discussion, followed by individual voting, the group selected the following services:
- Community Specialist Palliative Care
- Extension of Psychiatric Liaison Service
- High Intensity Users Services and Interventions
Commissioners and providers will prepare evidence to show how they support equal access and outcomes for residents in Lewisham. The PRG Equalities subgroup was invited to review the evidence in September before the final grading event for further comments.
