Conflicts of Interest
NHS Lewisham CCG is committed to the principles of good governance, leading to open and transparent decision-making. We have therefore established a policy to manage conflicts of interest to ensure that decisions made by the CCG will be taken and seen to be taken without any possibility of the influence of external or private interests.
A conflict of interest is defined as;
A conflict between the private interests and the official responsibilities of a person in a position of trust
A set of conditions in which professional judgement concerning a primary interest (such as patients' welfare or the validity of research) tends to be unduly influenced by a secondary interest (such as financial gain)
The creation of a set of circumstances where one party is favoured over another by an inadvertent preferential interest
How we manage conflicts of interests
In line with our conflicts of interest policy, arrangements
to seek and receive declarations of interest and maintain appropriate registers
of declared interests have been put in place.
