Transforming primary care in Lewisham

Primary care services and particularly local GP Surgeries are the first point of contact in the healthcare system for residents.  From the 1 April 2015 NHS Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), along with the other CCGs in south east London, has taken greater responsibility and involvement in the design, shaping and commissioning of local general practices, in a joint commissioning arrangement with NHS England.

This new arrangement will allow us to work more closely with those responsible for securing the provision of general practice, NHS England, and will support our local plans to improve primary care services in the borough.

This joint approach between our CCG and NHS England is referred to as the Co-commissioning of Primary Care and we will now begin meeting regularly in a joint committee, in public, to consider and take decisions on local services together.

The first of these committee meetings, held in public together with the other five CCGs in south east London (Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Lambeth) will be on:

Meeting of South East London's Primary Care Joint Committees
6pm to 8.30pm, 11 June 2015
South Bank Suite, Coin Street Conference Centre
108 Stamford Street South Bank
London, SE1 9NH (Nr Waterloo and Southwark Tube stations and Waterloo East BR)

These are meetings held in public and members of the public are invited to attend these meetings and can submit questions in advance.

Please submit questions in advance by emailing Gilbert.George2@nhs.net stating which agenda item it refers to, by midday on 10 June 2015.

An agenda will be published on Thursday 4 June 2015 and meeting papers will follow.
