​NHS Lewisham CCG wishes to appoint an experienced nurse to serve on its Governing Body, to shape and develop delivery of local healthcare strategy.

The time commitment will be 2.5/3 days per month (under review).

The clinician ready to take up this role will have a unique opportunity to:

  • gain a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the CCG both individually and where it works collaboratively

  • bring strategic leadership across a complex and diverse health system

  • help to promote understanding and collaboration across the health economy

The Registered Nurse position is a statutory role that will provide their particular professional perspective on health and care issues to underpin the work of the CCG especially the contribution of nursing to patient care. To be suitable you will be:

  • a registered nurse who has developed a high level of professional expertise and knowledge

  • highly regarded as a clinical leader, probably across more than one clinical discipline and/or specialty, and demonstrably able to think beyond their own professional viewpoint

  • able to take a balanced view of the clinical and management agenda and draw on their specialist skills to add value

  • able to contribute a generic view from the perspective of a registered nurse whilst putting aside specific issues relating to their own clinical practice or employing organisation’s circumstances

  • able to bring detailed insights from nursing and perspectives to discussions regarding service re-design, clinical pathways and system reform

The role is for an initial two year term.

Remuneration for the role will be set by the CCG, commensurate with the experience and seniority of the applicant, and in line with guidelines for NHS Non Executives.
