Need a New Year's Resolution? Dry January!

1 January 2017- 31 January 2017

Save money, lose weight and sleep better this New Year by giving up alcohol for the month of January. Dry January is a thirty-one day challenge starting January 1st to give up booze and get the conversation started on the damaging effects of drinking. Dry January is Alcohol Concern's flagship campaign which has been changing the conversation about alcohol over the past 5 years.

January is Alcohol Awareness Month and NHS Lewisham Clinical Commission Group is encouraging Lewisham residents to sign up for this fun and beneficial challenge. Residents are encouraged to calculate how many calories and how much money they could save by signing up for Dry January this New Year.

NHS Lewisham CCG Chair, Dr Marc Rowland, said "Alcohol can have damaging effects on your kidneys, liver and mental health. Drinking less can drastically improve your health; sleep patterns and overall wellbeing."

"Dry January is the perfect opportunity to start the conversation with friends and family about the effects of alcohol and take part in a fun challenge that will lead to weight loss and better sleeping habits."
