Services at Lewisham Hospital are very much open for business. Since the Secretary of State’s announcement on changes to services in south east London, many people think that some services have closed at Lewisham Hospital. However, the Government have made it clear that no change will happen overnight and that alternative arrangements would have to be put in place first.
When any changes are planned, local people will be informed.
Changes to services in south east London
On 16 July 2012 a Trust Special Administrator (TSA) was appointed by the Secretary of State for Health under the Regime for Unsustainable NHS Providers (UPR). The Trust Special Administrator’s final report outlining recommendations to secure sustainable services for those served by South London Healthcare NHS Trust and the wider NHS in south east London was published by the Secretary of State for Health on Tuesday, 8 January 2013 and he announced his decision on Thursday 31 January 2013. More information is available at www.tsa.nhs.uk
NHS Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) believes that the service changes proposed by the TSA will not deliver the expected outcomes. Our response to the public consultation is available.
The CCG is disappointed by the Secretary of State for Health’s decision to the TSA recommendations. Our response is available here
