​Lewisham Safeguarding Adults Board 


Lewisham Safeguarding Adults Board holds responsibility for ensuring the safety of adults at risk in our community.

The Board works with partners to promote the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults who may be at risk of being abused, neglected or exploited. The Lewisham Safeguarding Adults Board needs to be assured that any shared learning where cooperation has strengthened adult safeguarding and where improvement may be needed. It may ask for a Serious Adult Review (SAR) to facilitate this. 

We support and engage with the Lewisham Safeguarding Adults Board for the purpose of protecting vulnerable people. Section 44 of the Care Act stipulates that Boards must arrange an SAR when an adult in its care dies as a result of abuse or neglect whether known or suspected and there is a concern that partner agency could have worked more effectively to protect the adult.

Lewisham Safeguarding Adults Board work with partners in social care and health which includes:

  • Lewisham Council Adult and Community Services
  • Health and social care commissioners
  • Metropolitan Police
  • Local health trusts
  • Voluntary organisations
  • Care providers
  • Housing providers
  • Fire Brigade
  • London Ambulance Service
